A vision shaped between two worlds

Born in the Philippines and raised in Batangas until the age of twelve, Agnes Dalisay’s life took a defining turn when her father, while facing terminal lung cancer, expressed his final wish that she be given the opportunity to build a future in Canada with her aunt. Her mother supported that path through profound personal sacrifice, and her aunt welcomed Agnes into a new life as her adoptive mother.

Forty-fours years ago, in the midst of my father's terminal illness, a family already carrying the weight of profound loss chose to think about my future. My father's final wish was for me to have opportunities in Canada that he knew he would not be there to provide. Fulfilling that wish meant being adopted by my aunt and, after his passing, leaving my surviving family behind at the age of twelve.

That transition changed the course of my life. Looking back, I now understand it was one of the greatest expressions of my family's love, sacrifice, and hope for my future. I remain deeply grateful to my father for his foresight, to my mother for her remarkable strength and sacrifice during an unimaginable time of loss, and to my aunt for making it possible for my father's final wish to become a reality.

Although I built my future in Canada, the Philippines remained the foundation of who I am. Living between two countries gave me a unique perspective. Canada taught me the value of thoughtful systems, high standards, and trust. The Philippines reminded me of the warmth, hospitality, exceptional talent, and culture of caring that had always been there.

I retuned to the Philippines with two practical objectives: to conduct due diligence on a real estate opportunity and to explore the possibility of introducing premium Filipino food products to the Canadian market - for their exceptional taste, but because I believe certain products could stand alongside the world's finest. Even if it meant supporting farmers in transitioning them to organic farming , I wanted to help showcase the richness and quality of what the Philippines has to offer.

It wasn't until I returned to Canada that something began to shift. With distance came a different perspective. I realized that what I wanted the world to discover about the Philippines extended far beyond the products it could produce.

I saw my homeland differently - with renewed pride in its people, its hospitality, natural beauty and the depth of Filipino talent that deserve to be experienced and recognized widely.

That journey became the catalyst for Heal Before Home - a platform reimagining how people experience recovery by thoughtfully integrating healthcare, hospitality, technology and human-centred support.

Technology gives us extraordinary ways to connect, innovate and improve care. Yet some things remain profoundly human - the comfort of being understood, the presence of someone who cares and the healing power of our surroundings.

Heal Before Home was created to bring greater clarity, preparation, and continuity to the non-clinical elements surrounding healthcare, wellness, longevity, and recovery journeys in the Philippines. I believe exceptional care should be supported by an equally thoughtful experience—one that considers how a guest prepares, how they arrive, where they stay, how they are supported through recovery, and how they return home. This is not only about coordinating services. It is about helping people feel considered, welcomed, and supported throughout the journey. Heal Before Home brings together the standards and perspective I developed in Canada with the warmth, hospitality, talent, and sense of home I rediscovered in the Philippines.

Part of my vision is to give back to the country that shaped my earliest years—by creating meaningful opportunities that support Filipino talent, responsible local businesses, healthier living, and personal growth. Heal Before Home is also an opportunity to help more people experience the warmth, skill, hospitality, and natural beauty of the Philippines in a thoughtful and responsible way.
